The Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra (BGKO) took over in 2015 from the Barcelona Gipsy Klezmer Orchestra (founded in 2012), eager to explore new sounds, continue experimenting, learning and exploring new territories.
With the album "Nova Era" (Oct. 2020) , it reaffirms itself as one of the most acclaimed bands in the interpretation of traditional music, respecting its ancestral soul and translating it to current times.
In 2024 , after 12 years of passionate career, BGKO releases "7" , their long-awaited seventh studio album. BGKO has established itself as an undisputed leader on the global Balkan music scene. Their way of blending different musical traditions into a unique symphony has won the hearts of audiences around the world, defying all boundaries, whether artistic or geopolitical.
Like a timeless witness, the band has forged its path with the power of live performance, carrying within it the essence of seven intertwined stories from different cultures and ways of life. On their seventh studio album, apart from their artistic commitment to traditional music, BGKO ventures into the turbulent sky of their own compositions, custom-shaped lyrics, and melodies that have patiently waited for their moment to emerge.
