Arcabuz is a rock band founded in 1978. At the time, four young men under 20 formed a band reminiscent of the bands popular at the time. Their influences were clearly Anglo-Saxon symphonic rock, progressive rock, and Andalusian rock. They established their base in Santa Coloma de Gramanet, where they had their first rehearsal space. If there was one thing they were clear about from the start, it was that their music had to be their own and original. Although they couldn't escape the influences of their idols, what had to emerge was something no one had heard before. And so it was. Their first work only saw the light of day in live performances and on a demo recorded at Gema 2 Studios in Barcelona, where most of the musicians who made history on the Spanish music scene passed through. This recording consisted of three full-length tracks: "Confrontaciones doloras," "La Setrilleira Monstruosa," and "Al final de una larga espera." With them, they performed on various stages in Barcelona, most notably at the Discoteca Georgia on Pelayo Street during Holy Week in 1979, the first time entertainment venues had opened during this time since the establishment of democracy. Time passed, and each went their own way. It's now, more than 30 years after their beginnings, that the original members of Arcabuz decided to get back together to hear how they once sounded. Julio Francisco Álvaro "Paquito" on keyboards, Carlos López on guitar, José-Luis López on bass, and Aurelio Ortega on drums, formed Arcabuz again. 30 years later, with renewed enthusiasm and the same approach. With new ideas, reminiscent of the past, but adding innovations. As a result of this reunion, the CD "Orígenes" was released in 2014, and a remastered limited-edition vinyl version for collectors was released in 2023.
