MARINA ROSSELL - SINGS MOUSTAKI AND SONGS OF THE RESISTANCE CD

Marina Rossell surprises us once again with a ten-song album in Spanish. Rossell infuses "Le Metec," now "El Meteco," with new nuances and a finale filled with vocals that celebrate life. Five years ago, she recorded "Bella Ciao" accompanied by the group Manel, and now she reinterprets it with the incredible voice and personality of Paco Ibáñez. From Moustaki's repertoire, we find "Había un Jardín" ("There Was a Garden"), "Mi Soledad" ("My Solitude"), and "En el Mediterráneo" ("In the Mediterranean"). Marina Rossell also offers us classic songs of struggle, memory, and conscience, such as "Lili Marleen," "Cuánta guerra," and "Morir en Ravensbrück." "Y una rosa roja" (And a Red Rose) is the title of this previously unreleased song, which speaks of invisible people: from the kellys (the women who clean hotel rooms) to the homeless. A theme that invites us to dignify those who are most vulnerable and to move forward together, no matter who we are, toward a better world.
